Ruy is a pianist, film composer, and arranger based in Los Angeles. His latest works can be heard in The A Color Purple (2023), One Night in Miami (2020), and his arrangements of Fito Paez's re-release of the iconic Argentinian Rock Album “El Amor Despues Del Amor”. Ruy was awarded the ASCAP Best Song of the Year for the film “Zapata” in 2005 and received a Golden Globe Award for the Rush Hour I score (1998). “Rosarigasinos” (aka. Gangs of Rosario) and “El Páramo” (aka. The Squad) are two of his films that have had remarkable success in the international film festivals circle, earning Ruy Folguera the Academy of Arts and Sciences Best Music for Film Award in Argentina, and a nomination in 2012 by the Colombian Academy of Arts for the Best Music Award, respectively.
Camila Lima is an American/Argentinian soprano, described as "a major talent, possessed of a large, creamy and gorgeous soprano voice." She made her debut in the role of Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata in Barcelona, Spain, and has since performed numerous leading operatic roles in Europe and North America. Camila has graced prestigious venues such as the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles and Carnegie Hall in New York. She has also been featured in performances like Misatango with the Angeles Chorale and played the main role in Peter Wing Healey's opera "The Tree."
Camila's exceptional talent has earned her recognition, including winning alternate First Prize at the 2018 international New York Lyric Opera Competition. Additionally, she was a semi-finalist at the Montserrat Caballe Competition in Zaragoza and the Jaume Aragall Competition in Sabadell, both in Spain. Notably, Camila has achieved an impressive feat by winning the Beverly Hills National Auditions three times.
They are joined by Geraldine Freitag and Claudio Otero. Geraldine is Santa Barbara's beloved tango teacher and the USA Vals Champion of 2022. She is accompanied by Claudio Otero, a pillar of Los Angeles and Orange County tango. With a career spanning over 35 years as a performer, producer and educator of both Argentine Folklore and Tango, Claudio is an influential figure in the all goings-on in SoCal. Their playful and energetic style will undoubtedly delight you.
